Things to Do & See near Our Bed and Breakfast

St. Johnsbury is home to many museums and art galleries as well as a venue for festivals and performances. Within walking distance to Cherry House Bed and Breakfast are the Fairbanks Museum (a natural science museum and planetarium), the St. Johnsbury Atheneum (our public library with an amazing art gallery in the rear), the History and Heritage Center, Catamount Arts, and a variety of artisan shops downtown. We also are home to the Maple Grove Museum and gift shop, Dog Mountain, and many recreational opportunities. The Lamoille Valley Rail Trail starts in St. Johnsbury and travels 93 miles west to Swanton, Vermont.

There are also delightful places to hike in town at the Town Forrest and “The Knob.” During the summer, we are treated to “Final Friday” events where food trucks and music go into the evening. There are parades and festivals throughout the year as well as celebrations at Dog Mountain. Monday nights in the summer, you can sit at the courthouse park and listen to our town band (one of the oldest in the country) and eat free ice cream.
